Lansing police ID person of interest in weekend shooting of 3 teenagers

LANSING – A person of interest in the shooting of three teenagers over the weekend has been identified by police.

Three teenage boys, two 16 and one 19, were shot near W. Oakland Avenue and N. Jenison Street in the city’s Old Oakland neighborhood around 2:20 p.m. Saturday.

Lansing police spokeswoman Jordan Gulkis released the ages of the shooting victims Monday and said police have identified a person of interest in the shootings. The investigation is ongoing.

The three boys went to University of Michigan Health-Sparrow and McLaren Greater Lansing hospitals after police responded to a shots-fired call in the Old Oakland Neighborhood.

All three were shot in the same incident and were believed to have non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, police said Saturday.

Police have not yet disclosed where the victims came from.
