Rod Stewart, 80, shares rare photos of his family

Rod Stewart, the British musician known for his many contributions to rock and pop music, turned 80 on Friday, January 10, and celebrated with a look back at some of his cherished memories on Instagram.

“Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes – 80 years young! ” the “Maggie May” singer wrote in an Instagram caption. “What an incredible journey it’s been – from unforgettable moments on and off stage to earning some very special honors along the way. But above all, my greatest joy has always been performing for you. Cheers to the memories we’ve made and the ones still to come! #80 YearsOfRod“

Included in the carousel were some videos and pictures of the pop icon with his large family. Rod has eight children with five different mothers, and several of them were in a group photo from his son Liam Stewart’s wedding, which took place in June 2024. (Liam, 30, is the son of Rod and his second wife, Rachel Hunter. . ) In addition to the groom, the photo showed all seven of the “You Wear It Well” singer’s other children: Sarah, Kimberly, Sean, Ruby, Renee, Alastair Wallace and Aiden Patrick.

Also included in the star’s look back were glamor shots from his early days as a performer, fun shots on stage, a shot of him being knighted by Prince William, as well as a romantic shot of himself with current wife Penny Lancaster.

Rod and Penny married in 2007 and have two children together: Alastair Wallace, 20, and Aidan Patrick, 14. In addition to Liam, he and Rachel Hunter are also parents to Renee Stewart, 32. Rod and ex-girlfriend Kelly Emberg share a daughter, Ruby , 38. Rod and Alana Stewart have daughter Kimberly, 46, and son Sean, 45. When Rod was 17 years old, he and his girlfriend at the time had a daughter, Sarah, which they ultimately gave up for adoption. Rod reconnected with his eldest, Sarah Streeter, now 62, in 2010.
