‘American Primeval’ dethroned on Netflix’s top 10 list by a new show

As you may have realized by now, I always track which series is at the top of the charts Netflixand now I think we are seeing a whole new era of this emerge. The WWE Monday Night RAW era.

After sitting atop Netflix’s top 10 list for quite some time, American Primeval, the limited series starring Taylor Kitsch, is now down to #2 thanks to the arrival of Monday Night RAW on good, Monday evening. What I think can happen now is that every On Monday, RAW could end up being the most-watched thing on Netflix before it quickly drops off. Granted, this is only week two of this deal with Netflix, but RAW is a show that will run forever and likely do good numbers when it airs. It crashes down the list after people finish watching it live, but I wonder if we’ll start every single week with RAW dominating the list.

As for American Primeval, the show had mixed reviews with a barely fresh 61% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences are much more into it with a stellar 87% score. As this is a limited series, it ends now. Probably. Perhaps. Netflix has been known to take successful limited series and turn them into longer productions, but I’m not sure American Primeval has done that to good to justify going the extra step. It’s not impossible, I just don’t think it’s that likely in this case. It’s not based on a book, so maybe they could invent more stories in this style, but we’ll see.

The rest of the list has Squid Game as the no. 4 for Season 2. It set a viewership record last time we checked, but the question remains whether it can keep up the pace to surpass Squid Game Season 1 as the most-watched series in Netflix history. That’s a tall order, and it mustn’t skimp on it. We’re three weeks into its release and it’s still #4, but that’s a good indicator that it’s continuing to do well.

AMC has finally added The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live to Netflix, the Rick and Michonne series meant to be the end of their story. Probably. Perhaps. So far, it’s actually a limited series, while others like Daryl Dixon and Dead City are pushing. My wife is thrilled with the addition of Younger to Netflix, which she is now watching for what I believe is the eighth time. Don’t exaggerate.

I was into wrestling when I was younger, but I just don’t have time to watch three hours of RAW a week at this point, but I’m glad people are enjoying it in its new home.
