Live Updates: Israel, Hamas ‘reach Gaza ceasefire deal’ after 15 months of war, Netanyahu denies reports

Protesters outside the IDF headquarters in Tel Aviv

There is a protest of about 100 people outside IDF headquarters in central Tel Aviv, with more arriving as news of an apparent deal trickles through.

This is a group that is demanding the release of all hostages – not just a group of 33 as part of this initial phase of negotiations.

They use loudspeakers and drums, sing and block traffic on one of the city’s busiest streets.

Yesterday, some of the families met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem and tried to urge him not to accept a deal for only some of the hostages.

Officials in Qatar, a country that had helped facilitate ceasefire talks with Egypt and the United States, are due to hold a press conference on Wednesday evening.

Journalists are gathered in the room. Reports initially suggested it would start at 18.30 local time, but more than two and a half hours later we are still waiting.

Netanyahu says the deal has not yet been reached

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says a cease-fire agreement has not yet been reached with Hamas.

“In light of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s firm position, Hamas has at the last minute withdrawn its demand to change the deployment of forces on the Philadelphia axis,” the statement from his office reads.

“However, there are still several unsettled clauses in the disposition, and we hope to finalize details tonight.

There are multiple reports from around the world citing Arab, Israeli and American sources saying a deal has been reached.

But moments ago, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a statement saying that was not the case.

My name is Riley Stuart and I will take you through the development as it happens.
