The National Weather Service is increasing the expected snow totals

The National Weather Service (NWS) previously extended the Winter Storm Warning to include additional areas such as parts of Montgomery, Howard and Loudoun counties. A winter weather advisory was also issued for the other half of Montgomery, Howard and Loudoun counties as well as DC, Prince George’s County and other surrounding areas. Now they have increased the expected totals in their latest card (Saturday afternoon).

Most of Montgomery County is now in the 4-6 inch range with areas like Bethesda and Silver Spring in the 2-3 inch range and Damascus in the 6-8 inch range. The ‘High End Amount’ map (10% chance) shows 6 inches for all of Montgomery County and 8 inches north. The ‘Low End Amount’ card (10% chance) shows only one track for most of the area.
