Lara Trump corrects her inauguration look

President-elect Donald Trump gave his family executive authority for their first fashion choices.

“I think he knows, at this point, that we all understand what we need to do and he trusts us,” Lara Trump told The Post on Thursday. “There are much bigger fish to fry than what we all have to wear to the inauguration.”

When choosing her inauguration look, Lara, 42, kept the colors of the American flag in mind.

“I will always err on the side of patriotic colors, but not go overboard,” Lara Trump said. Tamara Beckwith

“I always want to err on the side of patriotic colors, but not go overboard. So I’d say I feel like I’m going to pull it off,” she said.

For the three inaugural balls she will attend, she will wear a dress by Cuban-born, Miami-based fashion designer Oscar Garcia-Lopez, who designed the dress she wore to Trump’s 2017 inauguration.

For Sunday’s candlelight dinner with donors, Lara will wear a dress by Italian designer Chiara Boni, who also made a dress for her in 2017.

“I wanted to emulate the same things that happened (in 2017) because it was a really, really incredible time then and we’re hoping for the same now,” she said.

Lara, who is married to Eric Trump – the youngest of Trump and his first wife Ivana’s three children – said her other half did not weigh into her sartorial choices.

“Oh my god, he’s probably seen me put these things on multiple times and he probably hasn’t even realized it. He trusts my judgment about all of this,” she said.

“And actually I’ve also had to help him with his own outfit, as probably many wives do in general.”

She won’t color coordinate with Eric or anyone else in the family, and she doesn’t even know what the other Trump women will wear to the occasion.

“A lot of people have asked me if those of us in the family talked about different colors so we don’t match, but we don’t,” she said. “So I think it will be kind of a surprise for all of us when we show up on Monday.”

It’s the first time she’s also dressed her two children, Luke, 7, and Carolina, 6, for the historic event.

“This is a new one for me because I was actually pregnant with my son, who is my eldest, at the inauguration in 2017,” she said.

“They have what I think are very nice outfits for everything. I tried to coordinate their outfits together.”

Lara said their children are “very excited” about their grandfather’s big day.

“We told them we’re having a big party to celebrate grandpa and everyone wants to come.”
