WASHINGTON – It’s time for the president to put on his dancing shoes.

President Donald Trump’s inauguration celebrations continue Monday night with three official balls: The Commander in Chief Ball, the Liberty Ball and the Starlight Ball. Trump is expected to stop by all three and make remarks about each.

The balls conclude a marathon inauguration day for the president, which began with a Monday morning church service, tea at the White House with Joe Biden, the outgoing president, a noon swearing-in in the Capitol Rotunda, followed by remarks at 6 p.m. indoor parade at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC

The balls, which are not open to the public, are a long-standing tradition that brings together Washington DC’s elite and the president’s most ardent supporters. The first inaugural ball was held in 1809 for President James Madison and his wife Dolley, according to The White House Historical Society.

Country band Rascal Flatts and country singer-songwriter Parker McCollum are expected to perform at the Commander in Chief Ball, aimed mainly at military service members.

Country singer-songwriter Jason Aldean, rapper Nelly and vintage disco group the Village People — who attended Trump’s pre-inauguration rally on Sunday — will all perform at the Liberty Ball.

At the Starlight Ball, pop singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw is expected to perform.
