Jon Voight’s Donald Trump Rally Commentary Spark Audience Cheers

Actor Jon Voight received rapturous applause during a speech he gave at the victory rally of US President-elect Donald Trump.

The Midnight Cowboy the actor declared Trump’s 2024 presidential victory to be the “biggest victory ever”.

Newsweek contacted Voight’s representatives via email Monday morning for comment.

Why it matters

Trump named Voight and Hollywood legends Sylvester Stallone and Mel Gibson as his first ever “special ambassadors” to Hollywood.

“They will serve as special envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost a lot of business over the past four years to foreign countries, BACK – BIGGER, BETTER AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Thursday.

What to know

Trump will be inaugurated for a second term as president on Monday, and he celebrated over the weekend with a series of inauguration events.

One of them was a rally in a packed arena in Washington, DC on Sunday, and other celebrities in attendance included music group Village People and rapper Kid Rock, who both performed at the event as Trump danced on stage with them.

Tech mogul Elon Musk was also there, as was Trump’s family and Vice President JD Vance.

Voight gave a speech saying he was honored to be there among people “who have all come here to celebrate the greatest victory of all time.

“(And) The victory we all fought for to save our country. Our democracy. And I’m so grateful to be able to say that Donald J Trump is the 47th President of the United States.

“Now he will make America prosper again. He will make America great again, safe again. And we the people will honor our flag again, the white and the blue, for which it stands one nation under God. With liberty and justice for everyone,” he continued as the crowd roared in agreement.

Voight added that Trump “fought hard to save this country” and “will bring God back to the truths of our nation.”

“He’s going to make her happy again and he’s going to save the greatest country, America the Beautiful,” the actor continued. “I am proud to call the President of the United States my friend, our friend. My hero, our hero.”

“A man who never gave up on the American people. And we the people never gave up on him,” Voight concluded.

What happens next

Trump is due to begin his second term on Monday after attending his inauguration ceremony.
