The Flyers have placed Ryan Poehling on IR, Rodrigo Abols has been recalled – FLYERS NITTY GRITTY

The Flyers were angry and mad against the New York Islanders last week, but they got the last laugh against the Islanders with a 5-3 win.

It came with a price when Ryan Poehling was knocked out in the first period with an upper body injury. He was sent flying to the ice after what appeared to be a targeted head shot. Initially, the referees initiated a five-minute major, but upon further review, there was no penalty on the play. The Flyers trailed 1-0 at the time and it appeared to be a turning point in the game.

The Flyers have placed Ryan Poehling on IR (Injured Reserve) and recalled Rodrigo Abols.

Shame on Poehling, who is still recovering from a cheap shot to the head from Max Tsyplakov. Anthony Richard just returned from injury with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. He was out for almost a month, maybe that’s why he didn’t get the recall as Richard played very well in his recall with the big club a few months ago.
