Cooler weather has local businesses and residents preparing for freeze warnings

People are gathered in the morning and at night, but mostly they enjoy the weather during the day.

On the corner of 6th Avenue and Adams you find the corner location.

Keivin Landazuri is the owner, and he says no matter how cold it gets, this is where he wants to be in the mornings and afternoons.

Cold weather does not scare the business owner

Local perspective:

“Sales are down, people tend not to come out, but the cold doesn’t tend to affect me when I’m working. It’s always nicer to be cold than to work in 100-degree weather,” Landazuri said.

Whether you’re working outside or just taking your dog to the park, the cooler temperatures are impossible to ignore.

Customers shared their thoughts.

What they say:

“I wasn’t warm enough this morning. I was just in this sweater and a jacket. I wish I had a hat, scarf and warmer leggings on. It was chilly.”

“I haven’t pulled the parka out yet though. I’m just not there, but if we get colder I might have to.”

“I was expecting it to be a lot warmer than what I thought it would be right now.”

Opinions about weather varied depending on where they come from and how the temps are at home.

“I think it’s great. I’m from Canada, so this is really nice and warm,” Alanna Kinsman said. “I think we thought it would be 20 celsius, so yes, I thought it would be a bit warmer than this, but it’s ok because the sun is nice and warm. Even though it says it’s 15, it feels the closer to 18 or 20 (Celsius).”

“It feels like San Diego, so I think I can live here, but I know during the summer it probably gets a little warmer,” said Alex Rodriguez, who later changed his answer to “a lot warmer!”

“It’s a great juxtaposition to the 113°-117° we had this summer. I’m from South Dakota, so this is great for me,” Kristin Rich said. “We actually get to wear sweaters and hats and not look ridiculous.”

“I’m from the East Coast, so I love it, the cold,” Alex Kroot said. “In the summer we’re always worried about their (dog) paws and if they get overheated, so I’d rather be extreme in the other direction if I can.”

It will get even colder on Tuesday night, so make sure your pipes and plants are covered and bring your pets inside.
