As predicted, feet of snow hit parts of central and southern Jefferson County and northwestern Lewis County as early as Tuesday!

Here is a picture from Adams where about 3 feet of snow has already fallen:

As much as at least 48 inches of snow has fallen in Rodman as of noon Tuesday and it had been snowing very hard since then!

Lake effect snow will continue in the far north tonight and then move south into Oswego County late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning before shrinking toward the coastline, moving north and ending Wednesday afternoon.

Getting back to the cold temperatures and chills that continue in our area, expect a similar situation late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

With that in mind, there is the possibility of frostbite on exposed skin again during this period.

A cold weather advisory continues for all of Central New York because of this.

You may not be familiar with the “cold weather” warning. This is a new warning that replaced the wind chill notice.

Otherwise, the meaning is essentially the same.

If your area can afford cold weather, here’s what to do:
— If you must be outdoors, use common sense and dress warmly.
— Make sure all exposed skin is covered. If possible, avoid prolonged exposure to cold to prevent frostbite and hypothermia.
— Do not leave pets outside.
