Woman dies in tractor-trailer accident, charges pending

AMELIA — Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle accident in Amelia at 06.10 Tuesday 21 January. The crash in the eastbound lanes of the 11000 block of Patrick Henry Highway in Amelia County resulted in one fatality.

Blackstone resident Paul J. Semtner, 78, was driving eastbound in a 2018 Honda CR-V on Patrick Henry Highway when a tractor-trailer crossed into his lane and struck the Honda. Semtner’s wife Marilyn A. Semtner, 77, also of Blackstone, was a front seat passenger. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Both were wearing seat belts.

Paul Semtner was transported with non-life threatening injuries to a nearby hospital. Charges are pending against the uninjured, 27-year-old male tractor-trailer driver from Chesterfield. According to an email from Virginia State Police, the accident remains under investigation.
