Car crashes into Oakland County home in police chase

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A Southfield man was arrested after a police chase that ended after he crashed into a Berkley home.

Officers attempted to stop an SUV near Edwards and Greenfield on January 19, 2025 around 12:00 p.m. 1:30 p.m., because they said the driver, a 31-year-old Southfield man, was driving without a license and had several outstanding warrants.

According to authorities, the Southfield man refused to stop and drove away from the officers. The chase moved into Oak Park, east on Lincoln toward Coolidge and through Huntington Woods before returning to Berkley.

As seen in dash cam video released by police, the Southfield man lost control of the SUV and crashed into a home. He left the car and tried to run away, but was eventually arrested. Police found suspected cocaine and psilocybin mushrooms during the arrest.

The officer believed that the driver showed signs of driving under the influence of drugs.

The Southfield man is charged with fleeing and eluding, possession of cocaine, resisting or obstructing a police officer, possession of psilocybin mushrooms and operating under the influence of drugs.

Police said the Southfield man had several outstanding warrants from Michigan and Georgia related to drug trafficking and theft.

According to the police, no one was injured.
