Fayetteville, NC, closures, delays due to winter weather and snow

Thursday will be an asynchronous learning day for Cumberland County Schools, the district announced Wednesday afternoon.

Here’s the latest on businesses, schools and organizations that have announced closings, cancellations and other schedule changes due to winter weather. To submit closings, cancellations or delays to The Fayetteville Observer, email [email protected].

These are the latest schedule updates from 1.30 pm Wednesday:

Schools

• Cumberland County Schools will transition to an asynchronous distance learning day Thursday. The students carry out assignments at home, and the employees work externally. District offices and school buildings will be closed. Read more here.

• Fayetteville Technical Community College will be closed Wednesday.

• Methodist University goes to remote operations starting at 15 Tuesday and continues throughout Wednesday.

• Fayetteville State University has canceled all classes starting at 15 Tuesday and all of Wednesday. Classes resume on Thursday at 8:00 a.m.

• Harnett County Schools will operate remotely Thursday and all district offices and school facilities will be closed.

• Hoke County Schools will operate remotely Wednesday. All recreational and leisure events are canceled on Tuesday and Wednesday.

• Bladen County Schools will operate remotely Wednesday and all district offices will be closed. All after-school activities and events have been cancelled.

• Sampson County Schools will operate remotely Wednesday.

Government offices

• FAST services are tentatively scheduled to start at 1pm on Thursday, with services ending at their normal time. Parks and gated parks open at 13.00, unless morning conditions dictate a complete closure.

• Cumberland County government offices, including the court system, will be closed Wednesday. The Department of Public Health will contact people with WIC and clinic appointments to reschedule.

• City of Fayetteville offices will be closed to the public Wednesday and residents are asked to visit fayettevillenc.gov for services that can be completed online. Solid waste services will be delayed until roads are safe for crews, but residents are encouraged to put their carts out for pickup. There will be no garden waste collection this week. Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation facilities and gated parks are closed.

• City administrative offices in Spring Lake will be closed Wednesday and reopen Thursday at 10:00 a.m

• Town of Hope Mills offices will be closed Wednesday and will operate on a two-hour delay Thursday, opening at 10. Yard waste has been suspended until Wednesday and all park programs and events have been canceled.

• Fayetteville Public Works Commission payment center and drive-thru opens at 13 Wednesday.

• Bladen County government offices will be closed Wednesday.

• The Hoke County Clerk of Court’s office will be closed Wednesday.

• Harnett County government offices will operate on a four-hour delay Wednesday, opening at

Cape Fear Valley Health announced schedule changes Wednesday.

All ExpressCare locations and the HealthPlex will close at 17.00 Wednesday. The Ambulatory Surgery Center and Diagnostic Center will operate on a normal schedule.

Fort Liberty

• Fort Liberty will operate on a reduced staffing status Wednesday with only mission essential and weather emergency personnel, the post announced Tuesday afternoon. All service members, civilians and contractors should contact their chain of command for more guidance.

• Fort Liberty access control points will be open for normal business hours Tuesday. Rock Merritt, Canopy, Manchester and Butner will be closed Wednesday and will reopen at 5, when the post is back to normal operation. All other gates will be open as normal on Wednesday.

• Womack Army Medical Center will only work with mission essential and inclement weather personnel. The 24-hour and emergency departments are open, but outpatient clinics and pharmacies are closed. Fast track remains open.

• DoDEA schools will be closed Wednesday.

• Nordpost and Sydpost commissaries remain open.

• AAFES/stock exchange facilities close on Tuesday at 21.00. They will be open from 9 to 19 Wednesday, except for Pope Express, Yarborough Express and Camp Mackall, which will remain closed.

• The Fort Liberty ID card facility will be closed Wednesday and all scheduled appointments will be rescheduled.

• Family and MWR facilities close at 17.00 Tuesday, and all Tuesday evening programs are cancelled. All facilities are closed on Wednesday and all events are cancelled. All child development centers, central services and youth facilities will be closed Wednesday except Baez SAC and Bauguess CDC, which will only open at 6:30 for mission-essential employees.
