Middle school teacher dead after being found ‘unresponsive’ in bathroom

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — An Arkansas middle school teacher was found dead Wednesday morning in a staff bathroom, according to officials with Pulaski County Special School District (PCSSD).

Detriane Ireland, an ELA teacher at Mills Middle School, was found unresponsive by the school’s security team and pronounced dead shortly after first responders arrived.

A spokesperson for the PCSSD stated:

Mr. Ireland will be greatly missed by the staff and scholars at Mills Middle. Counselors will continue to be available to our staff and students this week at Mills Middle School. Our thoughts and condolences go out to Mr. Ireland’s family and friends.

Ireland was a teacher at Mills Middle School for three years and was in his fourth this year.

The PCSSD Counseling Department sent extra counselors to the school immediately after the incident.
