Wednesday’s game between the New Orleans Pelicans and the Milwaukee Bucks at the Smoothie King Center has been postponed, the NBA announced.

The game will be rescheduled at a later date.

A historic Gulf Coast winter storm hit the area Tuesday and caused record snowfall and extremely cold conditions. Nine killed have been reported. New Orleans received 10 inches of snow, breaking the record set in 1963 of 2.7 inches.

This is the second NBA game this month that had to be postponed due to extreme winter conditions. The Rockets-Hawks game on Jan. 11 was canceled due to weather in the Atlanta area.

Both the Pelicans and Bucks entered Wednesday on four-game winning streaks, but in very different spots in the NBA standings as we approach the Feb. 6 trade deadline. New Orleans is 12-32 and 14th in the Western Conference, while Milwaukee is fourth in the East at 24-17.

Winter storm Enzo is not only affecting the NBA.

A big game in women’s college basketball has been moved back a day because of the Gulf Coast storm. The No. 2 South Carolina Gamecocks were scheduled to host the No. 5 LSU on Thursday, but due to travel issues for the Tigers, the game will now tip off Friday night at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, SC

LSU’s Sunday afternoon home game against Texas A&M will go ahead, according to the school.
