Everton are making moves to finally seal the Arthur transfer to David Moyes

Everton are after Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo in the winter window, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The paper reports in its print edition (January 21, p2) that the Toffees remain keen to sign the Brazilian and strengthen David Moyes’ midfield, with Juve expected to let the player explore his options.

The 28-year-old has not played since returning to Turin from his loan at Fiorentina last season and has been the subject of transfer interest at Goodison since long before Moyes’ arrival.

Everton could still sign Arthur from Juventus

Everton will continue to push hard under new ownership of The Friedkin Group to get deals done in the final closing of the transfer window.

The difficulty is persuading players – especially loan targets – to go straight into a relegation battle in the Premier League when they can have more glamorous offers on the continent.

When a player from a team like Juventus is being chased, it can become very easy to stay put – although in the case of Arthur, who has not been involved in the 2024-25 season and has suffered an injury, it can benefit both himself and Everton.

Another issue lies in the alleged view of the Brazilian star himself, who has appeared reluctant to do business with the Toffees due to loyalty to Liverpool – who he played just once on loan in 2022-23.

Everton continue to scour the market for potential signings, with Arthur the latest to potentially turn up on Merseyside to fight for Moyes and the Goodison faithful.
