Trolle got my Cushing syndrome diagnosis

Amy Schumer was diagnosed with Cushing’s syndrome after being ridiculed by online trolls.
The 43-year-old comedian was warned of a potential health problem by social media trolls who mocked Amy for having puffy features – but the actress initially dismissed the idea that anything was wrong with her.
Amy said on the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast: “I was like, ‘Okay, everybody, relax’.”
However, the film star’s attitude changed when doctors also started commenting on her appearance.
She recalled: “The doctors chimed in on the comments and they said, ‘No, no… there’s really something wrong. Your face looks so crazy’.”
Amy subsequently learned that Cushing’s syndrome can be caused by taking too many steroid injections. And the actress – who had previously received injections after having a breast reduction and a caesarean – began to accept that it may have been the cause of her facial swelling.
Amy – who has Gene, five, with husband Chris Fischer – explained: “It gave me this thing called Cushing’s syndrome – which I wouldn’t have known if the internet hadn’t hit me so hard.”
The ‘Trainwreck’ star first announced news of his diagnosis in early 2024.
The actress – who is now “thrown away” with her Cushing’s syndrome – told the News Not Noise Substack newsletter: “There are a couple of types of Cushing’s. Some that can be fatal require brain surgery or removal of the adrenal glands.
“While I was doing on-camera press for my Hulu show, I was also in MRI machines for four hours at a time, having my veins shut down from the amount of blood being taken, and I thought I might not was around to see my son grow up.So finding out I have the kind of Cushing’s that just resolves itself and I’m fine was the best news imaginable.
“It’s been a crazy couple of weeks for me and my family. Apart from the fear for my health, I also had to be on camera and have the internet buzzing in. But thank God for that. Because that’s how I saw that something was wrong.”
