Celtics injury report: 3 players downgraded for Clippers game Wednesday

LOS ANGELES – The Celtics will be without three rotation players Wednesday night when they face a shorthanded Clippers team at the Intuit Dome.

Boston downgraded Al Horford (toe), Kristaps Porzingis (illness) and Jrue Holiday (shoulder) from questionable to out hours before tipoff. Porzingis was a late addition to the injury report Wednesday morning. All the absences probably aren’t cause for concern amid a five-game, seven-night stretch for Boston.

The Celtics also had an extra reason to be cautious after seeing how the Clippers approached contests. The hosts play four games in five nights and seemingly elected to tip in this contest against Boston by ruling out their entire starting five along with Nicolas Batum.

Kawhi Leonard (right knee) and Ivica Zubac (left eye) were both listed. Four other players downgraded from questionable to out are Nicolas Batum (right finger), Kris Dunn (left knee), James Harden (right groin) and Norman Powell (back).

The Clippers are a formidable opponent for Boston at full strength with a 24-18 record, but will rely on a skeleton team against Boston. That should give the Celtics a massive talent advantage for the game even without three rotation players.

Boston will look to improve to 2-0 on their road trip after a 40-point blowout win over the Warriors.
