Word analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

A difficult word today! GRAIN was not an ideal opener, leaving me with only one yellow box and 271 remaining solutions. ROUTE cut that number down to 18 and gave me two more yellow boxes. Unfortunately, FEMUR ended up being a lousy third guess, only cutting off 8 of those words, though at least I got the ‘R’ for green. SUPER cuts away the remaining possible solutions, leaving me with only one: UPPER to win!

Competitive Wordle Score

I lose a point for guessing in 5, but luckily the Bot took as many tries as me today, so only -1 in total. Lucky me!

How to play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 point; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent, you get 1 point. If you stand straight, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or play for a new score every day.
  • Friday is 2XP, which means you double your points – positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running account or just play day by day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “top” derives from the Old English word “unfair”which is the comparative form of “unfan”which means “over” or “over”. The root “unfan” is related to Proto-Germanic “ub-“ and Proto-Indo-European “upo-“both of which carry the meaning of “over”, “over” or “higher”. Over time, “top” evolved into its modern English usage, referring to something placed above or higher in position, status, or rank.
