Jefferson Parish residents asked to conserve water | Jefferson Parish

Jefferson Parish urged residents on both sides of the Mississippi River to conserve water early Thursday morning as freezing temperatures persist across much of the region.

Parish officials said overloading the water system could result in boiling water.

“Temperatures are expected to exceed 30 degrees around 9 a.m., so residents can now stop running water,” parish officials said in a news release. “Also continue to limit non-essential activities like washing dishes and laundry.”

A boil water advisory was issued for parts of Grand Isle Wednesday after several water mains broke in freezing temperatures. The advisory was still in effect from 7 Thursday.
