Baroni warning to Lazio: ‘Nothing achieved yet’ in the Europa League

Marco Baroni does not want Lazio injuries and bans to be an excuse as they welcome Real Sociedad to secure Europa League progress tonight. ‘Nothing has been achieved yet.’

It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico at 20:00 GMT.

You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens from this game and AZ Alkmaar-Roma on the Liveblog.

Luca Pellegrini and Samuel Gigot are both suspended, with Manuel Lazzari, Patric and Matias Vecino injured, plus Elseid Hysaj, Toma Basic, Gaetano Castrovilli and new signing Arjon Ibrahimovic ineligible for the Europa League.

Baroni doesn’t want any Lazio apologies

“We’re missing a few players in defense, but I still managed to make my decisions.” Baroni told the Lazio Style Channel.

“We are not taking any risks with the fitness levels of Pedro and Noslin, they can play part of the game.”

Biancocelesti is at the top of the table and can guarantee their place in the top eight, with direct access to the round of 16, with a game to spare.

“This requires a great performance and the best Lazio because it is a complicated game against a top-level opponent,” Baroni continued.

“These are important and wonderful steps for the growth of the team, we want to be in matches like this. We need humility, solidity and to keep our form as it is important against a side like Real Sociedad.”

Lazio won every Europa League match except the stalemate with Ludogorets.

“We are happy with what we have done so far in the Europa League, but nothing has been achieved yet. We have to play like there is no tomorrow.”

Their final game in the Europa League is away to SC Braga on Thursday 30 January.
