Cold nights continue in the Charlotte area, temperatures slightly warmer during the day Friday

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — We’re off to a cold start again this Friday morning as lows have dipped into the upper twenties and low twenties from our mountains to uptown overnight. Skies are mostly clear and we will host plenty of sunshine to end the work week as this warming trend continues.

Highs will make a run for the low to mid 40s Friday afternoon as winds drift out of the west between 5 and 10 miles per hour. Skies will be mostly sunny as high pressure builds through the weekend.

Tonight will turn cold again, dropping into the low 20s ahead of a warmer Saturday. We’ll reach the mid to upper 40s with plenty of sunshine to start the weekend.

Cloud cover will emerge Sunday as the low 50s return to finish the weekend. A low pressure system approaching the Carolinas will bring rain chances for Monday as highs level out near 50 degrees.

Look for sunshine and warmer temperatures to prevail midweek as Wednesday reaches 60 degrees and clouds linger through Thursday.

Friday: Mostly sunny and cool. Height: 44.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy and cool. Low: 23.
