Closures, delays across Pee Dee & Grand Strand

(WPDE) — Due to the winter weather in the Carolinas, schools are announcing closings and delays. Here is an updated list of all the announced closures for Wednesday and Thursday.

SCHOOLS:

Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC):

Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) will operate via online instruction and remote work on Thursday.

Florence-Darlington Technical College:

FDTC will remain closed Thursday and plans to resume normal operations on Friday.

Lee County School District:

The Lee County School District will operate on an eLearning schedule for all schools on Thursday.

All Thursday afternoon after-school programs, sporting events, field trips and extracurricular activities have been cancelled.

Little Promises Learning Center:

Little Promises Learning Center will be closed on Thursday.

Dillon School District 4:

Thursday will serve as an eLearning Day for Dillon School District 4 students and faculty.

All school buildings and offices will be closed. There will be no after school activities.

Georgetown County:

All schools and facilities are closed on Thursday, and all extracurricular and after-school activities are canceled or postponed.

A makeup day for the schools will be announced at a later date.

Horry County:

Horry County Schools will operate on an eLearning Day on Thursday.

All leisure activities planned for Thursday will be rescheduled.

HCS will provide another update Thursday afternoon regarding any operational changes for Friday, January 24, based on our continued monitoring of weather forecasts and road conditions.

Florence County School District 2:

Schools and offices are closed on Thursday. Sporting events and leisure activities will be rescheduled.

Florence School District 3:

Florence School District 3 will be closed for students on Thursday.

Dillon School District 3:

Latta schools are closed on Thursday.

Make-up day will be Friday, February 7, 2025, which is a scheduled teacher workday.

Marion County School District:

The Marion County School District will be closed on Thursday.

This will be observed as a bad weather day.

Darlington County School District:

The Darlington County School District will have an eLearning Day on Thursday, January 23rd.

All buildings will be closed, all after school activities will be canceled and students and staff will work from home.

Colleges:

Robeson Community College will operate remotely on Thursday. The campus will be closed.

State Parks:

Myrtle Beach State Park, Huntington Beach State Park and Little Pee Dee State Park are all closed on Wednesday.

Agencies:

SOPAKCO, SC will be closed on Thursday.

Marion County offices will open late Thursday. They open at 11:30 a.m. and note that there may be limited services depending on staff availability.

Santee Copper retail offices will be closed Thursday.

City of North Myrtle Beach: North Myrtle Beach Aquatic & Fitness Center, J. Bryan Floyd Community Center, City Court, City Hall and North Myrtle Beach Park & ​​Sports Complex will be closed Thursday. Sanitation Collection will operate with a 2 hour delay on Thursday.

All three Lowcountry Food Bank facilities (Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Yemassee) will be closed on Thursday. If you need emergency food assistance, please call 2-1-1.

Horry County Government offices and facilities will remain closed through Thursday. Horry County Solid Waste Authority facilities — including the landfill, all recycling centers, material recycling facilities, household waste facilities and administrative offices — will be closed, and Parks & Recreation and Library programs will be canceled.

In Horry County, the magistrate’s office will be open Thursday at 9-13. They will only have one bond right at 11 a.m

Georgetown County offices and facilities will remain closed through Thursday.

All City of Myrtle Beach facilities will be closed Thursday.

Town of Surfside Beach offices are closed Thursday. Surfside Beach Fishing Pier and bathrooms will be closed.

A change in the collection of solid waste comes into effect. Solid Waste crews will have two extra trucks and extra staff out Friday to try to pick up any trash that hasn’t already been picked up this week.

The Darlington County Council on Aging Office and all senior centers will be closed on Thursday.

Florence County Library System locations will remain closed Thursday.

Florence City offices will operate on a two-hour delay schedule for Thursday and will open at 10:30 am. An in-person trial scheduled for Thursday has been canceled.

The monthly Wildlife Action Horry Chapter meeting scheduled for Thursday has been rescheduled for next Thursday, January 30 at 6 p.m.

All City of Conway buildings and facilities, including Conway Sports and Fitness, will be closed on Thursday. Recreational activities have been canceled and solid waste collection will resume on Friday.

City of Loris administration offices and facilities will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, January 23rd. This closure will also apply to the Planning Commission meeting scheduled for Thursday at 18.00. The town hall will tentatively reopen on Friday.

Hospitals:

All Conway Medical Center primary care, pediatric and specialty physician offices will be closed Thursday.
