For the first time in his over 40-year career in Hollywood, Demi Moore is officially an Oscar nominee.

“Being nominated for an Oscar is an incredible honor and the past few months have been beyond my wildest dreams,” Moore, 62, said in a statement to Us Weekly via his publicist on Thursday, January 23. “There are truly no words to fully express my joy and overwhelming gratitude for this recognition. Not only for me, but for what this film represents. I am deeply humbled.”

The film follows Elisabeth as she uses the titular substance to create a younger version of herself, Sue, played by Margaret Qualley. But things take a monstrous turn as the two halves fight for dominance over their shared lives.

While Moore is excited about her career milestone achievement, she is also using the moment to honor those affected by the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. “This is a time of incredible contrasts and right now my heart goes out to my friends, family, neighbors and community here in LA,” her statement continued. “The fires have destroyed so many lives, but seeing the way our community has come together leaves me in awe of the resilience and compassion that defines us, and this moment is a reminder of how incredible we are when we stand together .”
