Atlanta Braves sign Jurickson Profar

For once, we have a free agent situation to Atlanta Braves instead of saying goodbye. In fact, the Braves made one of their biggest free agency splashes in recent memory after going out and signing OF Jurickson Profar to a deal. Robert Murray of FanSided was the first to report the news.

Profar is coming off a career year in a contract season when he hit .280/.380/.459 with a .365 wOBA (.364 xwOBA), 24 home runs and a 139 wRC+. His performance in 2024 was a markedly massive improvement over how he fared in 2023, where he pitched 111 miserable games with the Rockies before returning to the Padres and looking like his normal self again.

As for the Braves, this is obviously a big deal as they have addressed one of their main issues. When Ronald Acuña Jr. didn’t bounce back right away, the outfield needed to be reinforced, and this is a very solid way for Atlanta to do so. If Profar continues in 2025 where he left off in 2024, then the outfield for the Braves just became another position of strength for this team.

UPDATE (5:30 p.m. ET) — The Braves have officially announced the deal. That’s three years and $42 million — $12 million in 2025 and $15 million for both of the following two seasons. Of course, he also donates 1 percent of his salary to the Atlanta Braves Foundation. Connor Gillispie has been designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.
