NFL-Insides reveals the reason for ‘secrecy’ in Liam Coen, Jaguar’s head coach conversations

The news that Buccane’s offensive coordinator Liam Coen was in Jacksonville on Thursday to meet with Jaguars to discuss the team’s vacant head coach position just 24 hours after it was reported that Coen would return to Tampa on a new contract.

NFL-Insider Albert Breer gave further context to what may have caused Thursday’s meeting to be done in secret, even though Coen withdrew from the coach search on Wednesday.

“Buccaneers offered a 3-year deal on Monday to make their OC the best-paid coordinator in NFL’s history. It was conditional on him not taking the second interview with the hunting , ” Breer reported.

Breer also revealed where Coen is currently between Bucs and Jags.

Coen comes after his first season in Tampa Bay and was hired by BUC’s head coach Todd Bowles to replace Dave Canales, who continued to take the head coach job at Carolina Panthers last season.
