PREVIEW: Kentucky WBB looks to take down Texas A&M on the road

Kentucky picked up a double-digit road win over Georgia in their last game, and the Cats will look to replicate that same success when they take on Texas A&M in College Station.

Get to know the Aggies before the game.

Bio Blast

Texas A&M is 9-8 overall and 2-3 in the SEC to this point in the season. Before the year began, they were picked to finish 13th in the conference, but as it stands right now, they are currently sitting in sixth place in the conference. To be fair, it’s early in conference play, but Texas A&M has proven they can win against SEC competition.

Perhaps their best win of the season came on Jan. 5 when Texas A&M upset then-No. 25 Ole Miss and beat the Rebels 60-58 at home. It’s worth noting that they’ve also suffered some bad losses to this point, including their season opener against Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Last season, Texas A&M went on the road and beat Kentucky 61-44 at Rupp Arena, but things could look very different this time around.

Scouting report

If there’s one thing to know about Texas A&M, it’s that they are a very, very bad three-point shooting team. They sit dead last in the conference and 329th in the country in three-point percentage (24.6%). The Aggies have only one player shooting north of 30% in deep freshman guard Taliyah Parker (32.4%)

Their leading scorer and arguably their best player is fifth-year senior Aicha Coulibaly, who is averaging 12.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. She had 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists against the Cats a year ago and is capable of putting up that type of stat line on Thursday as well.

Sahara Jones, a 6-foot-5 fifth-year senior guard, is averaging 10.5 points and 6.9 rebounds in 28.2 minutes per game. competition, and is having the best year of his collegiate career. Texas A&M also has a much deeper rotation than Kentucky, with 10 players averaging at least 12 minutes of action per game. game.

Initial Availability Report

Beginning this season in conference play, SEC teams must release an availability report that lists players and their injury status for their upcoming game.

Here is initial report for Kentucky-Texas A&M:

The final availability report will be available closer to game time.

**Note: Kentucky’s Dominika Paurová is not listed as “Out” because she is completely out for the season due to an ACL tear suffered in the offseason. Jordan Obi, who also suffered a lower leg injury this summer, could return to the hardwood this season, which is why her name appears on the availability report.**
