Spirit Airlines may remove passengers for indecent or offensive clothing under new dress code

Passengers flying low-cost Spirit Airlines will now face more restrictions after the carrier updated its dress code policy.

The update to its “Contract of Carriage” became official on Jan. 22 and says passengers “shall not be permitted to board” or “may be required to exit an aircraft” because of their attire or offensive “body art.”

The contract now specifies that passengers who are “barefoot or inadequately clothed (ie transparent clothing; not adequately covered; exposed breasts, buttocks or other private parts) or whose clothing or objects, including body art, are obscene, indecent, or offensive in nature” is subject to reason.

Guests agree to the dress code when making a reservation with the airline.

Passengers have been banned from flights in the past, including two women who were asked to leave by a flight attendant in October for wearing crop tops.

Tara Kehidi filmed the removal from the plane and said she had to spend $1,000 to rebook with another airline, It was reported by CNN.

The National News Desk reached out to Spirit Airlines for comment, but has yet to hear back.
