Novak Djokovic served Australian Open’s anger after withdrawing during his semi -final match against Alexander Zverev.

Djokovic, 37, was forced to withdraw after the first set of his match against Zverev, 27, Thursday, January 23, unable to continue due to a muscle recovery in the left leg. Zverev had secured the long 81 -minute first set in a tiebreak.

In response to the audience in Melbourne’s root Laver Arena Djokovic as he left the field. The 24-double Major champion gave two thumbs up to the fans when he came to the dressing room.

Djokovic sustained the damage during the opening set of his quarterfinals victory over Carlos Alcaraz Tuesday, January 21st.

Zverev – who advanced to meet defending champion Jannik Sinner In the Australian Open men’s final on Sunday, January 26 – did not kindly receive the audience’s treatment of his opponent.

During his own press conference with journalists after his retreat, Djokovic said, “I did everything I could to cope with the muscle tearing I had.”

The tennis star sought to expand his record by winning his 11th Australian Open title. No other men’s player has won more than 6.

Djokovic has the record for most major titles won by a men’s player with 24. Retired stars Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer is number two and third on the list of 22 and 20 Major titles respectively.
