Rhode Island-judge Joseph Molina Flynn, who specializes in immigration legislation, resigns after FBI attacks in the office

The “first previously undocumented judge of Rhode Island” withdrew abruptly a few hours after the FBI raided his immigration lawyer office at the center of Providence on Thursday.

Central Falls Municipal Court Judge Joseph Molina Flynn was investigated before President Trump’s return to the Oval Office, and the raid is not related to his latest series of immigration -related regulations, according to WPRI 12.

The reason for the raid has not yet been revealed by the agency.

Recordings posted on x of NBC 10 Reporter Brian Crandall showed a Homeland Security agent and others enter the office under the raid.

Central Falls Mayor Maria Rivera said the Razzia was “deeply worrying.”

“As the Central Falls Society knows, transparency and accountability are my priorities,” said Central Falls mayor of WPRI 12. “In an attempt to maintain the integrity and focus of the municipal court and focus, Judge Molina Flynn has officially resigned from her position.”

When Rivera was elected mayor in 2021, she also appointed Molina Flynn, who supervised the city’s traffic calendar.

Rivera said Central Falls Municipal Court has temporarily appointed associate Judge Robert McConnell to president about cases after the resignation.

Rhode Island Court’s spokesman Lexi Kriss also told the broadcast that “Office of Disciplinary Counsel is aware of the raid and that the lawyer has not been charged criminally at this time.”

A spokesman for US lawyer Zachary Cunha’s office, Jim Martin, acknowledged that “there is an authorized activity at” his Providence-State Office, Providence Journal reported.

However, he refused to elaborate further.

Molina Flynn was born in Medellin, Colombia, and arrived in the United States on a tourist visa when he was 9 years old, according to his law firm Website.

He achieved his “legal permanent residence status and then his citizenship” after spending 15 years in the United States as an undocumented immigrant.

Molina Flynn later attended Johnson and Wales University and the University of Michigan Law School in Ann Arbor.

He founded the Molina Flynn Law Office in 2015 as a solo practitioner, focusing on immigration, family and criminal conditions, and has a location in Boston and Providence Centrum.

Molina Flynn’s biography also says he is the “first gay person” appointed as the municipal court judge in Central Falls and the “first previously undocumented judge in Rhode Island.”

He also teaches “Crimmigration” as an adjunct professor at Roger Williams University Law School.
