Andie MacDowell shares ‘Miracle’ Health Update as she reveals painful new diagnosis

Andie MacDowell Feel grateful that she should never have the hip replacement surgery she expected.

The Groundhog Day The actress opened up a painful diagnosis she recently received, and the “miracle” that a little physiotherapy has done for her.

While sitting down with Drew Barrymore on Her talk show with the same nameMacDowell, 66, revealed that she is suffering from piriformis syndrome, an often overwhelming condition where the piriformis muscle behind your glutes compresses the sciatic nerve. According to Cleveland ClinicIt can lead to pain or numbness throughout your ass, hip and/or upper legs and may be caused by injury, swelling, muscle spasms or scar tissue in the area.

In Macdowell’s case, it was “shooting down (her) legs” that led to fear of something wrong with her hip. The actress opened up to make “Peloton as a crazy person” and learned that “it is not appropriate for (her) body” after she “ended up with bad knees and a bad hip.”

“I thought I literally fell apart – just like I had to get new pieces,” she remembered.

Fortunately, that was not the case, and with the help of a personal trainer to “work the bottom and work (her) hip … every day” she no longer feels the pain.

“… The good news is that my pieces are fine,” she added outside the typical effects of aging. “I’m working really hard now and doing (physiotherapy). I don’t fall apart.”
