Dallas Cowboys coaching search: Adam Schefter shares update on Brian Schottenheimer after multiple interviews

The Dallas Cowboys’ coaching search has continued through Friday afternoon, despite much buzz about the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer be in a strong position to get the job.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter joined the Pat McAfee Show on Friday afternoon and explained where things stand with the Dallas Cowboys coaching search. According to Schefter, it’s hard to call a deal close at this point because everything is up to Jerry Jones.

“You know, it’s hard to say, because I think one guy decides it, and one guy can change his mind at any time.” Schefter said. “And a guy can wake up today and say, ‘You know what? I know we’ve been working a lot with Brian Schottenheimer, but I feel like Deion Sanders or Jason Witten would be the best for this organization.’ Again, I don’t know what Jerry Jones is going to feel today.”

Schefter reported earlier this week that Brian Schottenheimer met with Dallas Cowboys officials for two days to discuss the head coaching job, but there is still no deal in place at this time, and Jerry Jones has also reportedly spoken with other candidates.

“I think they spent a lot of time on Brian Schottenheimer. I think it makes a lot of sense on a lot of levels,” Schefter said. , which direction it will go.

“So it’s hard to pin it on anybody until they move forward with that decision. And as of last night, they hadn’t moved forward with any decision as far as I know.”

Schefter added that it is also difficult to pinpoint a timeline as to when the Dallas Cowboys coaching search will end.

“The Cowboys could end today, it could end next week,” he said. “We don’t know when Jerry will decide to make a decision. It could be anytime.”

Nick Harris of the Fort Worth-Star Telegram reported earlier this week that there was some mutual interest between the Dallas Cowboys and Pete Carroll over the open head coach position. However, Carroll was hired by the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday.
