President Trump emphasizes early recovery efforts in western North Carolina visit

We dive into the weight of President Trump’s visit to western North Carolina on Friday, January 24.

We spoke to our political analyst, Doctor Chris Cooper for his take.

“Helene. The demand for Helene and what happened in western North Carolina is a national story. It’s one Donald Trump thinks he’s going to emphasize early on,” Cooper said.

We also asked Cooper about his thoughts when it comes to a presidential visit that leads to real action.

Here’s what he had to say about it.

“Yes, presidents have enormous amounts of power. He’s the most powerful person in the country. They don’t have unlimited power, so he has to work with Congress to try to get real relief to our region,” Cooper said. “He also needs to work with state and local officials, so I think it’s been interesting to see Gov. Stein, obviously a different political party than President Trump, but at least what I’m hearing Stein say is that we have to work together to get some real relief.”
