Gamecocks seal a 66-56 victory in Columbia, GA, improve to 19-1 (7-0) and retain their undefeated record in SEC games. South Carolina gives LSU (20-1, 5-1) their first loss of the season with a dominant, all-around performance from start to finish.

After taking control in the third quarter, Gamecocks never looked back and built a lead that LSU couldn’t overcome. South Carolina’s defense made the difference, closing down LSU’s transition game and noting a seasonal height of 11 blocks.

Gamecocks shot 37.1% from the field and kept LSU to 29.9%. The tigers, which an average of 90 points per match, was limited to only 56 points, marking their lowest scoring result of the year.

South Carolina’s depth from the bench was the key to the victory. Freshman Joyce Edwards delivered 14 points, four rebounds, one theft and a blockage. Sophomores Milaysia Fulwiley and Tessa Johnson combined for 17 points, giving a much needed spark throughout the game.

Senior starter Sania Feagin also played a key role and ended with 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and three blockages, which hit both ends of the floor.

This victory marks Gamecocks’ 17 consecutive win over LSU and extends their home win series to 69 matches.
