The biggest problem with Jenna Ortegas Wednesday is also why the Netflix show was so successful

One of the biggest problems with Netflix’s Wednesday was also, ironically, one of the reasons why the series became and continues to be so successful. Although updates on Wednesday Season 2 have been missing since the recordings ended, the series continues to fascinate and entertain the audience as Tim Burton-Spinoffet tells the story of Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) and her adventure in the Nevermore Academy. But for some, the series failed to capture the essence of the source material through its shift in format and tone.

Although Wednesday should reflect the original Addam’s Family franchise, it moved instead of copying aspects of many supernatural teen dramas on Netflix, such as The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Stranger Things. The original The Addam’s Family Series was a satirizing of the classic family-Sitcom, but its morbid humor and slapstick moments contrast with Wednesday’s more serious history that draws it away from the primary intention of the franchise.
