Tony -Winner Idina Menzel returns to Broadway tonight in Original Musical Redwood | Broadway Buzz

RedwoodThe new Broadway musical, starring the Tony Award winner Idina Menzel, about a woman who discovers a life among the trees, performances at the Netherlands Theater on January 24 in front of an opening of February 13.

Menzel is together with the Tony Award Nominated De’adre Aziza (Passing weird), Michael Park (Dear Evan Hansen) and Zachary Noah Piser (Dear Evan Hansen), all represent their roles from Redwood‘s world premiere production at La Jolla Playhouse last year. Khaila Wilcoxon (SIX) joins the show on Broadway.

Around the company are Daniel Brackett, Bradley Dean and Veronica Otim. Jessica Phillips acts as a standby for Menzel’s character Jesse.

Written and directed by the Tony Award -nominated Tina Landau, Redwood Contains music by Kate Diaz and lyrics by Diaz and Landau. The show is devised by Landau and Menzel with additional contributions from Menzel.

The creative team to Redwood Includes Jason Ardizzone-West (scenic design), Hana S. Kim (Video Design), Toni-Leslie James (Costume Design), Scott Zielinski (Lighting Design), Jonathan Deans (Sound Design), Melecio Estrella, Bandaloop (Vertical Movement/ vertical choreography) , Tom Kitt (music monitoring) and Haley Bennett (associated music monitoring) with orchestrations and events by Kate Diaz.

Redwood is about a woman’s journey into Redwood’s precious and insecure world. Jesse (Menzel) seems to have the whole-a successful career and devoted family-to a life-changing event drives her far from everyone and everything she knows. When she is at the foot of Redwoods in northern California, a random meeting and a jump of faith will change her life forever.
