Challenge Cup: Workington hosted Leigh Leopards’ meeting

Workington Town set up a Challenge Cup third round meeting with 2023 winners Leigh Leopards with a comfortable win over Royal Navy in Portsmouth.

Jonny Hutton scored a hat-trick for the Cumbrians and Rio Corkill contributed two as they ran in 11 tries against the service side.

Ollie Brookes got four tries – his first professional hat-trick – as North Wales Crusaders booked a place in the next round by beating Cornwall 52-0 in Penryn.

In difficult conditions at the Memorial Ground, the Crusaders took early control against their League One counterparts, who made seven signings in the run-up to the game.

Kieran Taylor also bagged a treble as the Crusaders drew at home to either Widnes Vikings or Rochdale Hornets, both also previous winners of the competition.

Five tries from winger Mo Agoro and doubles from Kieran Dixon and Iain Thornley helped Oldham that eased through with a 60-10 win over the National Conference side Rochdale Mayfield.
