Jalen Carter injury: Eagles DT hurt in NFC Championship vs. Washington Commanders

Philadelphia Eagles Jalen Carter went down with an injury during the third quarter of the NFC Championship vs. Washington Commanders.

He was immediately checked by trainers and head coach Nick Sirianni. After Carter slowly walked off the field, he managed to return to the game after one play.

Heading into the NFC Championship Game, Carter helped No. 1 Eagles’ defense. But he was not without his stories off the pitch amid such a fantastic campaign.

He had some pregame beef with Los Angeles Rams rookie Jared Verse prior to the divisional round.

“You know that’s motivation for us.” Jalen Carter said. “It’s still cool. I love his game. He’s a baller.”

Earlier this week, Verse told Los Angeles Times (according to CBS Sports), “I hate Eagles fans,” saying they were “so annoying.”

Verse comments led to the Eagles running back Saquon Barkley have a strong response. “Probably not the smartest thing to say when you come to Philadelphia,” Barkley said Friday to ESPN. “I’ve been on the other side (as a member of the New York Giants) and even if I felt one way or another, I probably wouldn’t give them any extra fuel. I’m pretty sure Philly fans saw that comment. It should already be loud and rocking, so it’s just going to add to that.”

Carter, Barkley and the Eagles got the last laugh as they defeated Verse and the Rams 28-22. Carter had a big game on Sunday, recording five tackles, two tackles for loss, two sacks, three quarterback hits, a pass defensed and a forced fumble. Barkley rushed for 205 and two touchdowns on 26 carries in the win.
