Winnipeg Jets vs Calgary Flames Pre Game Report – Illegal Curve Hockey

Almost all of the Jets attended practice Saturday as the team looked to turn the page on their win over Utah and shift their focus to Calgary as they look for some measure of revenge after losing to the Flames eight days ago in Winnipeg. The only missing player was reported to be Josh Morrissey who head coach Scott Arniel said was ill. They don’t need to recall if he can’t play as they have enough D up with the big club. But they still only have 12 strikers. Now they technically don’t have to do a recall since the Elks are here until Tuesday, but it looks like they’ll just give them a 13th forward if necessary.

The Flames had a bit of an unusual schedule as they defeated the Jets last Saturday night and then went home to face the Sabers five days later. With two straight wins, they left Alberta for Minnesota, where they took on the Wild last night and won 5-4, making it three straight for Calgary, and they wrap up three games in four nights tonight in Winnipeg.

Skate news:

No skating this morning.

Warming news:

Eric Comrie led them out and he gets his second shot at the Flames in the last eight days. Josh Morrissey on the ice, which is a good sign, although it is worth noting Will Heinola also on the ice. But when the line rushes began, it was Morrissey paired with DeMelo, so 44 seems good to go.

Jets projected lines & D-pairs:

Connor-Scheifele-Vilardi
Ehlers-Namestnikov-Perfetti
Niederreiter-Kupari-Appleton
Barron-Gustafsson-Iafallo

Morrissey-DeMelo
Samberg-Pionk
Fleury-Stanley

Comrie

Flames projected lines & D pairs:

Huberdeau – Kadri – Pelletier
Coleman – Backlund – Coronato
Pospisil – Sharangovich – Kuzmenko
Lomberg – Rooney – Bishop

Hanley-Andersson
Weegar-Miromanov
Bean – Pachal
