Cooper Dejean named NFL Defensive rookie of the year finalist

Former Iowa football star Cooper Dejean continues to name himself in the NFL during his first season in the Pro rows.

On Thursday, Philidelphia Eagles Cornerback was announced as a finalist for AP Defensive Rookie of the Year. Dejean has started 11 games and performed in 18 in his rookie season, including the final game. The former Hawkeye has collected 60 total tackles, 43 Solo -removals and three tackles for loss.

Dejean has also forced a fumble and given four, including one in the playoffs, this season. He has also been great in coverage that allows only 431 yards between the regular season and playoffs, and he has not yet handed over a touchdown to opposing pass-catchers, according to Pro Football Reference.

The other finalists for the award are La Rams de Braden Fiske, Eagles CB Quinyon Mitchell, Miami Dolphins LB Chop Robinson and Rams LB Jared verse. The winner of the award will be announced February 6th.

Dejean and Eagles hope to turn their ticket to the Super Bowl when they take on the Washington commanders of the NFC Championship Game on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. 14 CT and can be seen on Fox.
