Sources – Jewell Loyd to Aces; Kelsey Plum to Sparks in Trade

The first Domino in Wnba Free Agency fell Sunday – and it was a massive one.

In a magnificent trade in three teams, Las Vegas Acer bought Seattle Storm guard Jewell Loyd and sent ACES Guard Kelsey Plum to Los Angeles Sparks, sources of ESPN told Sunday.

The storm acquires the No. 2 election in the 2025 WNBA draft and the SPARKS LI Yueru, as well as Las Vegas’ 2026 elections in the first round, sources told ESPN. Los Angeles receives 2025 no. 9 and EN 2026 second round from Seattle. The aces receive 2025 no. 13 from Sparks.

The agreement will be made official on February 1, says sources of ESPN.

It is the first case in the history of the league with a trade involving several general no. 1 choices.

Plum went into offseason as a free agent, an indication that her time in Las Vegas – as part of the championship core with A’Ja Wilson, Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray – may be over.

By being a cored of the organization, Plum’s only way to change teams was to be swapped, but she had to sign her final destination.

LOYD meanwhile, not to become a free agent until 2026. The news of her trade request came out after her accusations of harassment and bullying against Storm’s coaching team. It led to an external study that ended without finding any violations.

The two firefighters share similar courses as professionals. They were both No. 1 overall Draft selection-loyde in 2015 to Seattle; Plum in 2017 to San Antonio, who moved to Las Vegas a year later. They both appeared as WNBA talent and perennial All-Stars, each winning a few championships with their respective franchise. They established their value on the international scene as Olympic gold medal winners in Tokyo, where Loyd played 5-on-5 and Plum 3×3, and in Paris, where they were teammates when Team USA won an eighth gold medal in a row.

And they had both spent their entire WNBA careers playing for the franchises who chose them-so far.

Plum, who until last year had NCAA Division in the Women’s Basketball Scoring record through all time, joins an Los Angeles organization that hired a new coach in this offseason in Lynne Roberts and builds around the 2024 Lotter divisions Cameron Brink and Rickeea Jackson. With a star of Plum’s caliber on tug, Sparks, historically speaking one of the league’s most iconic franchises, looks good to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2020.

LOYD’s arrival at Las Vegas will automatically help the aces who did not reach their teat of three peat last season aim to their third championship in four years. A six-time all-star and WNBA scoring leader in 2023, LOYD will bring a further perimeter scoring threat to a team that already offers triple MVP Wilson, triple All-Star Young and 2022 Final’s MVP Gray.
