‘Bachelor’ Grant Ellis is talking about the upcoming season, NJ’s hometown

He is still shooting his shot.

“Bachelor” Grant Ellis in the same way sees his career and find love in a reality dating show.

Newark, NJ, natives said that watching himself date on TV reminds him to watch the video tape of his basketball matches.

“I look at it as if I are seeing the tapes of myself. And it’s really interesting to see what the connections look on screen,” said Ellis, who played for Hudson Catholic High School, Iona University and professionally abroad.

But the 6-foot-4-Guard, who suffered an injury that derailed his player career, cannot fix the movements he makes on the long-lasting ABC series as easy as he could on the field.

“I mean, when I see it, it’s too late. … it’s out there,” he said of his season of “The Bachelor,” which premieres on January 27.

Ellis, 31, a day trader who now lives in Houston, misses some aspects of his hometown of Jersey.

“My friends and the mood. … It’s a big basketball state, so that’s what I miss, ”he said. “But I don’t miss the cold weather and I don’t miss the taxes.”

He made his debut on the ABC franchise last year – as one Participates on “The Bachelorette”, After his mother Renee secretly submitted his application.

The self-proclaimed mother’s boy saw some episodes from that season with her mother and grandmother, and made sure to apologize for himself as it was time for his make out-sessions on screen with the leading lady Jenn Tran.

“It was definitely strange. I just wanted to get up and behave like I was going to use the bathroom,” said Ellis, who reached all the way to week 6.

When he explained “Bachelor”-produces the qualities he is looking for in a wife, he said “someone who was caring … with a good heart … which is outgoing.”

“I knew the ladies who came to the season would be amazing. But for me it was about what’s inside and how I could really relate to them and what our connection was.”

He also said it was not a deal breaker if his partner is not a sports fan. “I’m into sports enough for both of us,” he joked.

Ellis’ season has a higher number of local participants than usual – one from Queens, another from Brooklyn, four from Manhattan and one from New Jersey.

Although he did not ask for a city girl, he said the producers may have worked behind the scenes to set him up to success.

“No, I didn’t. But New York is the world’s financial capital, so I think they might just be trying to find a common ground in relation to my career, he said.

After his season is over, the reality star said he would not be against competing on “Dancing with the Stars” – like some of his other “bachelor” alumens.

“I love to dance. So yes, I wanted to do ‘Dancing with the Stars’,” he said.

“I have some pretty good hip movements, you know?”
