Dalton Kincaid’s brutal drop sealed Bills’ AFC championship loss

Dalton Kincaid had almost a catch that could have saved the bill season.

Instead, Josh Allen’s last ditch pass, while under strong pressure, went through Kincaid’s hands and fell to the ground heartbreaking way late in the fourth quarter of Bills’ clash against Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game at Geha Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.

Chiefs ended up winning the game, 32-29, to beat their ticket to the Super Bowl 2025 next month in New Orleans.

Kincaid was open and the passport was the ceiling within his reach, but the bills tight end seemed to have wrongly rated where the ball went and had to make a diving effort to try to catch the catch.

Opposite the fourth-and-5, the catch would have been far beyond what the bills needed for the first one down and would have brought buffalo close to field target interval.

“We had a chance with the ball in our hands, in Josh’s hands, to win it, and we got up a little short right there,” Bills coach Sean McDermott told journalists after the game. “I thought we had a chance to catch the ball, but at the end of the day I am extremely proud (of) this football team.”

The wild final moments of the game only punctured the destruction of the bills as Sunday’s loss marked the fourth time in the last five years they have lost to Chiefs in the playoffs.

Although there were still almost two minutes left on the clock, Bills Players’ facial expression seemed to suggest that they knew the game was all over.

Allen saw a heart bridge look at his face as he walked off the field and Bills the offensive Lineman Dion Dawkins and Chief’s defensive tackle Chris Jones were seen embrace, usually seen after the game was over.

Chiefs have been Bills’ White Whale of Sorts in the latest story, with Sunday marking the second time the teams have met in the AFC Championship Game.
