LSU 64-51 Texas A&M (January 26, 2025) Game Recap

Baton Rouge, LA .– Flau’jae Johnson scored 22 points, including eight in the fourth quarter, to help # 5 LSU beat Texas A&M 64-51 on Sunday.

Aneesah Morrow added 19 points for the visibly tired tigers (21-1, 6-1 sec).

LSU played its second game of 48 hours after losing on No. 2 South Carolina on Friday in a competition that was postponed from Thursday. LSU opened the second quarter on a 15-2 race and never drew the rest of the way, although Agggies (10-9, 3-4) made it a one-holding game in the first four minutes of the fourth quarter.

Aggies was led by Taliyah Parker, scoring 14 points from the bench. Aicha Coulibaly and Sole Williams added 12 and 10 points.

Texas A&M: AGGIES, Sensing LSU’s fatigue, attacked the curve throughout the game. A&M got Tigers’ Johnson, Morrow and Williams in the first half problems-a rarity this season.

LSU: Tigers’ lack of depth showed late in the second quarter when their scoring trio by Johnson, Morrow and Williams Alle were on the bench in poor trouble with 4:30 back in half. From that time, LSU missed out on its last 7 out of 8 field goals with A & M’s 9-3 scoringsburst, which cuts Tigers’ lead to 30-25 at half.

Keying moment

Sole Williams’ 3-Pointer cut LSU’s lead to 48-46 with 6:45 left, but Tigers responded with a 12-3 race containing two Kailyn Gilbert 3-Pointers and three Johnson drives.

Key State

LSU, who entered the game, which was placed as third nationally in offensive rebounds, had a season high 30 of them. This allowed the Tigers to try 21 more field goals (72 to 51).
