Phoenix (Azfamily) – A winter weather counseling is in force on Monday for most of the higher heights in Mohave County and areas such as Flagstaff, Wiliams, Prescott and Grand Canyon.

Snow showers are expected to start early Monday morning. Flagstaff and Williams could see a few centimeters of snow on Monday. The weather system we track moves into the state from the northwest, so Western Arizona will see more of the activity on Monday, and eastern Arizona will pick up more of it Tuesday and Wednesday.

Rain showers over the lower deserts look isolated and spread Monday with small chances on Tuesday and Wednesday. Not much accumulation is expected with less than one tenth of an inch that is likely to be for Phoenix. Areas north and east of Phoenix could see a quarter of an inch.

The top low lingers over the state in the middle of the week, but weakened, leaving the chance of light rain Tuesday and Wednesday and snow showers probably also to continue through Thursday.

The system departs east of Arizona and the temperatures are heated back in the 70s this weekend. Under-normal temperatures are expected this week. The average temperature for Phoenix is 69 degrees. Temperatures will be in the lower 60s throughout the week.
