Mackinac Bridge partially closed due to high winds

MACKINAW CITY, Mich. – The Mackinac Bridge is partially closed Monday morning due to high winds in the Straits area.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority prohibits all vehicles from entering the bridge on January 27, 2025, except passenger cars, passenger cars and empty pickup trucks. Tonneau covers, bedspreads or similar items are not permitted.

Winds blow across the surface of Mighty Mac at at least 50 miles per hour. The Straits area currently has winds of 50 to 64 miles per hour.

Motorists are asked to reduce their speed to 20 miles per hour as they approach the bridge and be prepared to pull over. Bridge personnel are at both ends of the bridge to instruct drivers when and how to cross the bridge.
