Another prescribed combustion is set to south of flagstaff next week if the weather permits – Kaff News – Flagstaff

There will be another prescribed combustion in Coconino National Forest this coming week. Fire managers plan to burn just over a thousand acres of eight miles west of Kachina Village and 12 miles southwest of Flagstaff on Crater Sinks West Fork Project. This combustion is similar to the 17-hundred acre combustion completed this last week. It is another broadcast burning that has herds that use drip torches to spread fire over the area, keeping it at low intensity. The combustion is scheduled to go for four days from Tuesday. However, the weather may delay burns on this project. Smoke will be noticeable from Flagstaff, Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon and Verde Valley. Fire crews also plan to burn piles near I-17 and Willard Springs Road, along Snowbowl Road and near the intersection of Hart Prairie Road and Freedline Drive when conditions allow.
