Prince William to meet Sir Keir Starmer tonight – details | Royal | News

Prince William will meet Sir Keir Starmer after an appearance at the Holocaust Memorial service later today, it has been confirmed.

The meeting will take place in private. It is the convention that the heir to the throne must meet the Prime Minister annually.

Like his son, King Charles will mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz in Poland.

Williams’ meeting with the British prime minister comes just a day after US President Donald Trump spoke highly of the royal family during a phone call with Sir Keir Starmer.

President Trump discussed his “respect and affection” for the British royals, including King Charles and Prince William.

Today William will mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau – the largest Nazi concentration camp complex – and the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Bosnia.

Ahead of today’s event, a royal insider noted: “As part of an unending commitment to remember those who perished and suffered the horrors of the past, The Prince of Wales is honored to take part in such an important commemoration.”

Back in 2020, the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a ceremony at Central Hall in Westminster to mark the 75th anniversary of the Holocaust. During the emotional event, Prince William read an extract from a letter written by a friend of his great-grandmother, Princess Alice, highlighting her efforts to save Jews in Athens.
