Tracks mild temperatures and gusty winds to start the week

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cold with lows in the upper teens to around 20.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the upper 40s. Increased fire danger south of I-70, where drought has been a concern.

EXTENDED: We’re in for a cold night as high pressure moves across central Missouri and keeps skies clear until Monday morning. As the surface high pressure system moves south tomorrow, we will see increasing southwesterly winds with gusts up to 25 mph. High temperatures will reach the upper 40s, with an elevated fire risk south of I-70 thanks to the strong winds and low humidity. We remain quiet with the upper high pressure overhead through Wednesday, bringing highs near 50 each day through Thursday. Low pressure to our south will provide rain chances from Thursday and continuing into early Saturday. No wintry weather is expected as temperatures remain above average from the end of the week into the weekend. Rainfall will be heaviest along and south of I-70, where 0.5″ to 1″ is possible. The weekend looks to continue to be mild with temperatures rising into the low to mid 50s on Sunday.
